Anti-Imperialism Solidarity Group
The anti-imperialism solidarity group works to end U.S. imperialism and to resist its harmful impacts internationally and locally, with a particular emphasis on ending U.S. military presence in the Philippines and supporting the organizing work of Filipinx people towards self-determination here and in the Philippines. We are allied with Bayan Pacific Northwest, a coalition of progressive Filipinx-led orgs including Gabriela Seattle, Anakbayan, Bayan Queer Collective, and Alay ng Kultura. Our work includes fundraising, education, mobilizations, protests, direct actions, logistical support and childcare for Bayan events, supporting and going on an annual exposure trip to the Philippines, and much more. We have an intersectional analysis with a particular focus on queer and trans voices. We aim to be a welcoming community for our members, nurturing the growth, leadership, and authentic self-expression we think are essential for liberation for all people.
Get involved: We meet approximately monthly. To get involved please email: email@example.com
“Anti-imperialism work has pushed me to understand that I, as a white U.S. citizen, benefit daily from global systems of exploitation. These systems were created and continued through colonialism. Engaging in anti-imperialist struggle moves us all towards equitable interdependence between all living things by undoing this long-standing web of domination. In contributing to this work, I have been challenged, moved and healed in my connections to other peoples and lands.” – Shelby Handler
